Webb’s Pair Lifts Lakers Past Cougars

WATERTOWN, S.D. – Gracelyn Webb netted two goals, including the game-winner in the second period, as the Watertown Lakers defeated the Aberdeen Cougars 3-2 in girls’ high school hockey action Friday at Prairie Lakes Ice Arena.

Harper Hendricks opened the scoring for the Lakers at the 14:29 mark of the first period. Webb followed up at 11:02 with her first goal to give Watertown a 2-0 lead going into the break.

Webb then scored what proved to be the decisive goal at the 2:26 mark of the second period. Laker assists were credited to Emma Schleusner, Sheylin Strichers, and Piper Krueger.

Addyson Keller and Rachel Siefken each scored for Aberdeen, who outshot the Lakers 35-32 for the game.

Watertown (0-1-0) remains home for Homecoming Weekend to face Sioux Center at 1 p.m. Saturday.
