Lakers Hockey Dominates Sioux Center; Melville Nets Hat Trick

WATERTOWN, S.D. – Aidyn Melville completed the hat trick and four other Lakers netted goals, powering Watertown past the Sioux Center Storm 7-0 Saturday at Prairie Lakes Ice Arena.

Melville scored two goals in the second period (11:55, 6:58) with assists from Jett Van Gilder, Tyler Roberts, and Kolten Sutten. He completed the hat trick in the third (7:14) with an assist from Colton Kasuske and Roberts. Jack Elshere started the scoring in the first with an unassisted goal at the 3:02 mark. Sutten netted a goal at the 4:46 mark in the second with an assist from Elshere. Kasuske scored at 13:44 in the third, assisted by Roberts. Grady Bodsberg scored at 10:19 with assists from Elshere and Melville. Kohl Nygaard earned the shutout, stopping all 35 shots on goal for the win.

Watertown (2-0-0) wraps up Homecoming Weekend against Sioux Falls West at 1:45 p.m. Sunday.

Laker Girls Earn 6-3 Victory

In the girls’ action, five different Lakers scored in Watertown’s 6-3 victory over Sioux Center.

Lily Murray got things started for Watertown at 16:05 in the first with an unassisted goal. Emma Schleusner tapped one through at 10:39 in the first, assisted by Harper Hendricks. Sloane Allard notched her first goal of the night at 4:32 with the assist from Schleusner. Keagan Stolp lit the lamp at 2:15 with the assist going to Gracelyn Webb and Lily Murray. Allard added to the total in the first at :14 with assists from Harper Hendricks and Schleusner. Gracelyn Webb wrapped up the Laker scoring in the second with an unassisted goal at 16:23. In net, Kira Reppe stopped 32 of 35 shots on goal for the win.

Watertown (2-1-0) wraps up Homecoming Weekend against the Rushmore Thunder at 12:15 p.m. Sunday.
