SALEM, S.D. – Watertown claimed the top spot Friday at the MCM Girls Wrestling Invitational. The Arrows finished with a team score of 182. Local teams Clark/Willow Lake placed third with 109 points, and Kingsbury County finished 10th with a score of 70.
Five Arrows reached the top of the podium. Brooklyn Randall, named the invitational’s MVP, won by decision over Alexis Bryan of McCook Central/Montrose to take first place at 115 pounds. At 120, Olivia Anderson won by decision over Alexis Brenden of Yankton.
Watertown’s Brooke Grajczyk won by fall over Sioux Valley’s Skye Guthmiller at 140, while Allison Konrad won by fall over Hope Kemnitz of Bon Homme/Scotland/Avon at 190. Konrad tied for the fastest pin of the tournament at 12 seconds. At 235, Eden Hach won by fall over Unique Clairmont of Todd County/White River.
Also placing for Watertown were Vanessa Anderson, who took second at 105 after falling to Jewell Vardsveen of Madison, and Nevaeh Schanbeck, who took third at 170 with a decision over Cante Williams of Webster Area.
Watertown next competes at the Bismarck Rotary Tournament on Jan. 9.
