BOX ELDER, S.D. – A strong second half propelled Watertown past Douglas 44-28 in high school girls basketball Saturday afternoon.
Leading 19-17 at the half, Watertown outscored the Patriots 27-9 in the second half to secure the victory. The Arrows were led by Lily Mack with 13 points, while Kynsee Russell added 12. Gabi Olson led the effort on the boards with seven rebounds and added six points. Douglas was led by Olivia Harris with 13 points.
The Watertown boys completed the doubleheader sweep with a 69-49 victory over Douglas. Four Arrows scored in double figures, including Carter Buisker and Isaac Rehorst, who notched 15 points each. Buisker was the leading rebounder with nine. Jack Mack and Jackson McClemans added 13 points apiece, with McClemans dishing out seven assists. Joshua Divis led the Patriots with 10 points.
Watertown basketball returns east Jan. 6 for a series against Brandon Valley. The boys travel to Brandon while the girls host the Lynx.
