Panthers Hold Off Brave’s Late Rally; GPL Girls Cruise to Victory

WATERTOWN, S.D. – Great Plains Lutheran held off a fourth-quarter comeback from Britton-Hecla to escape with a 50-46 victory in high school boys basketball Friday night.

Trailing 37-26 heading into the fourth quarter, the Braves outscored the Panthers 20-13 in the final period but came up just short. GPL was led by Isaac Kjenstad with 10 points. Jarrett Bauer had eight points and Lucas Johnson added seven.

No statistics were reported for Britton-Hecla.

The Great Plains Lutheran girls completed the doubleheader sweep of Britton-Hecla with a 46-29 victory.

The Panthers were led by Julia Prahl with 18 points. Emily Maritz added 11 points, while Kate Holmen finished with nine.

Daynille Zuehlke led the Braves with eight points.

Next up for Great Plains Lutheran is a doubleheader at Estelline/Hendricks on Jan. 13.
