WATERTOWN, S.D. – The Watertown Shamrocks extended their winning streak to four games with 3-2 victories Friday and Saturday nights over the Austin Bruins.
After a scoreless first period Friday, Owen Chartier got the scoring started for Watertown at 16:18 of the second period to make it 1-0. Payton Struck extended the Watertown lead to 2-0 at 4:49. Nathan Williams got Austin on the board on the power play at 17:53 of the third. Owen Chartier slid one through unassisted at 13:41 of the third to make it 3-1. Siamion Marshchanok added a goal for the Bruins at 6:41.
Mason Gudridge stopped 32 of 34 shots on goal for Watertown to earn the win. Cody Butkis stopped 32 of 35 shots for Austin in the loss.
On Saturday, Sebastian Haborak (17:00) and a shorthanded goal by Antons Macijevskis (13:32) put Watertown up 2-0 early in the first period. Andrew Leung lit the lamp for Austin at 11:50 of the first to make it 2-1. After a scoreless second period, Austin’s Nathan Williams tied it up at 2-2 at 18:44 of the third. Watertown’s Justin Obrochta secured the win at 10:48 of the third.
Gudridge earned his second win of the weekend for Watertown in net, stopping 41 of 43 shots on goal. Jack Solomon earned the loss, stopping 12 of 15 shots for Austin.
Watertown improves to 17-13 and looks forward to a home-and-home series against the St. Cloud Norsemen this weekend. Friday’s game will be at St. Cloud, while Saturday’s will be on home ice at Prairie Lakes Ice Arena.
