ABERDEEN, S.D. — A hot second quarter sent Watertown past Aberdeen Central 59-45 in high school boys basketball Tuesday night at Golden Eagles Arena.
Aberdeen started fast and led 11-9 after the first quarter, but a 15-point second quarter put the Arrows up 24-19 at the half. The Arrows outscored the Golden Eagles 35-26 in the second half to pull away for the victory.
Watertown was led by Carter Buisker with 17 points. Jackson McClemans added 14 points and six rebounds, while Jack Mack tallied 12 points and six assists.
Aberdeen Central was led by Bergan Turner with 11 points. Brenner Waldrop grabbed 11 rebounds and five assists.
In the girls’ matchup at the Watertown Civic Arena, Watertown fell to its third ranked opponent in a week, losing 53-20 to No. 4 Aberdeen Central.
Jordan Remmers led the Watertown scoring with six points. Lily Mack and Lydia Stemwedel each added four points.
Taryn Hermansen led all scorers for the Golden Eagles with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Lauryn Burkhard added 13 points and six assists.
The Watertown boys (7-1) and girls (1-6) return to action Jan. 16 for a doubleheader at Yankton.
