PIERRE, S.D. – Watertown surged to a pair of victories over Tea Area and split with host Pierre on Thursday night in a high school wrestling triangular.
The Watertown boys bested the Titans 48-28. Braylon Schell (106), Jonah Anderson (113), Brody Randall (126), Shea Richter (132), Kutler Swenson (138), Max Stroup (144), Markus Pitkin (165), Landen Lewis (175) and Cade Kuemper (190) were all victorious for the Arrows. The girls found similar success with a 42-6 win over Tea Area. Vanessa Anderson (105), Brooklyn Randall (120), Olivia Anderson (125), Brooke Grajczyk (140), Nevaeh Schanbeck (170), Allison Konrad (190) and Eden Hach (235) earned wins.
In the night’s closer matchup, the Watertown boys eked out a 36-30 victory over Pierre. Schell, Anderson, Randall, Richter, Gage Lohr (157), Lewis and Kuemper secured wins for the Arrows. The girls fell to Pierre 51-28, though Vanessa Anderson, Olivia Anderson, Randall, Konrad and Hach recorded individual victories.
Next up for Watertown wrestling, the girls travel to the Harrisburg Invitational on Jan. 16, while the boys visit the Jerry Opbroek Tournament in Mitchell on Jan. 17.
