ABERDEEN, S.D. – Rachel Siefken scored the go-ahead goal in the third period to lead Aberdeen past Watertown 3-1 in girls high school hockey Sunday at the Odde Ice Arena.
Watertown opened the scoring at 9:04 of the first period when Audrey Eide netted a goal off an assist from Lily Murray. Aberdeen tied the game at 1-1 late in the second period on a goal from Calley Gage at the 14:43 mark.
Siefken notched the game-winner at 11:23 of the third period. Addyson Keller added an empty-net goal with 11 seconds remaining to seal the 3-1 victory.
Chloe Vikander earned the win in goal for the Cougars, while Nylah Vannelli took the loss for the Lakers. Aberdeen outshot Watertown 34-27.
Watertown returns to South Dakota Amateur Hockey action Feb. 7 at home against Brookings.
