WATERTOWN, S.D. – Shauna Evenson and Macy Olsen medaled on the floor exercise to lead Watertown to a second-place team finish at a home quadrangular Monday night.
Harrisburg claimed the top spot with a team score of 149.3, followed by the Arrows at 145.65. Brookings placed third (139.1) and Pierre took fourth (135.15).
Evenson and Olsen tied Harrisburg’s Katelyn Maeschen for first on the floor with a score of 9.75. Olsen also placed third in the all-around (36.45), fourth on the vault (9.15), ninth on the beam (9.0), and tied for eighth on the bars (8.55). Evenson added a third-place finish on the beam (9.55) and a fifth-place finish in the all-around (36.2) and vault (9.0).
Other top-10 finishers for Watertown included Ashlynn Andrews, who took sixth on the floor (9.3), seventh in the all-around (34.95), and eighth on the vault (9.15). Emery Gaikowski tied for fifth on the beam (9.45), tied for ninth in the all-around (34.15), and took 10th on the floor (8.95).
Rounding out the Arrows’ performance, Elly Dingsor placed sixth on the bars (8.7), while Kiera Schultz tied for seventh (8.6). Lyric Diedrich earned fourth on the floor (9.45) and Ella Palmquist took ninth (9.05). Schultz also tied with Gaikowski for 10th on the floor.
Watertown gymnastics next competes in a triangular at Aberdeen against the Golden Eagles and Huron on Jan. 29.
