Dominant Second Quarter Propels Watertown Boys Past Rapid City Central

WATERTOWN, S.D. – Watertown’s defense held strong in the second quarter to pull away from Rapid City Central 74-48 in high school boys basketball action Saturday at the Watertown Civic Arena.

The Arrows jumped out to a 24-14 lead after one quarter and held the Cobblers to just four points in the second to go up 38-18 at the half. Watertown edged Rapid City Central 36-30 in the second half to secure the win.

A quartet of Arrows—Carter Buisker, Jack Mack, Jackson McClemans, and Dane Stark—led the attack. Buisker led the scoring column with 19 points and three steals. Mack tallied 16 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, while McClemans added 12 points, seven boards, and five assists. Stark finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Julius Duran led the Cobblers with 18 points, and Preston Yellow added 15.

On the girls’ side of the doubleheader, Rapid City Central shot 45% from the field en route to a 53-40 win over Watertown.

Three Cobblers reached double figures, including a double-double from Leah Landry (10 points, 10 boards). Emma Casey led all scorers with 14 points, and Chloe Shreve added 13.

Kynsee Russell led the Arrows with 11 points and five steals. Jordan Remmers added eight points, and Lily Mack finished with seven. Watertown struggled offensively, shooting just 26% from the field.

Next up for Watertown is a split home/away contest with Sioux Falls Lincoln. The girls travel to Sioux Falls while the boys host the No. 1 Patriots at the Civic Arena.
