WATERTOWN, S.D. – No. 1 Sioux Falls Lincoln shot 52% from the field and kept No. 3 Watertown at arm’s length in a 78-55 win Tuesday night in high school boys basketball at the Watertown Civic Arena.
The Patriots led 27-17 after the first quarter and held the Arrows to just 10 points in the second to open a 50-27 lead at the half. The Arrows surged in the third quarter, outscoring Lincoln 16-11 to cut the lead to 61-43. However, the top-ranked Patriots proved too strong, pulling away in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
Carter Buisker led the Arrows with 20 points and four assists. Jackson McClemans added 13 points and five assists to go with three steals, while Kaden Decker finished with eight points. Watertown shot 38% from the field in the contest.
A quartet of Patriots reached double digits, led by Samuel DeGroot with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists. Sam Ericsson scored 17 points, while Owen Duffy and Brody Nour each added 13.
On the girls’ side of the matchup in Sioux Falls, Kynsee Russell and Lily Mack both scored in double figures as Watertown topped Sioux Falls Lincoln 49-29.
Russell led all scorers with 14 points, three assists, and three steals. Mack added 13 points, five assists, and six steals. Regan Van Meeteren led Lincoln with 13 points.
Watertown continues its tour of Sioux Falls schools against Washington on Thursday night. The girls (3-10) will play at home, while the boys (11-2) travel to Sioux Falls.
