Deuel Claims NEC Crown; Estelline/Hendricks Leads Region 1A

BRITTON, S.D. – Estelline/Hendricks posted a top score of 141.6, while the Deuel Cardinals secured the conference title with a 136.325 at the Region 1A/Northeast Conference gymnastics meet held in Britton on Thursday.

In the region standings, Madison finished second with a 136.625, followed by Deuel in third. Host Britton placed fourth (135.275), Sisseton took fifth (135.175), and Milbank rounded out the field with a 130.65. Deuel was the top-performing team for the NEC title, followed by Britton, Sisseton, and Milbank.

The Redhawks’ Maggie Hausman captured the region all-around title with a score of 36.5. Teammate Riah Hartung followed in second at 36.175, while Jaylee Berwald placed fourth with a 34.925. Hartung claimed the top scores on bars (8.925) and floor (9.6). Hausman led the field on vault (9.325), and Berwald took the top spot on beam (9.125).

Sisseton’s Izzy Metz earned the all-around title for the Northeast Conference meet with a score of 35.725. Deuel’s Hannah Cutshaw placed second in the NEC all-around (34.4). Cardinals teammate Laycee Anderson placed fifth (33.45), while Adysyn Wiesner took sixth (33.3). Wiesner also finished second on vault (8.875). Cutshaw added a second-place finish on bars (8.55) and third on beam (8.75). The Cardinals’ Tai Engels posted the top score on bars (8.7) and placed second on floor (9.125).

The high school gymnastics season concludes at the state meet in Mitchell, Feb. 13-14.
