BISMARCK, N.D. — The Watertown Shamrocks fell twice on the road this past weekend to the Bismarck Bobcats.
On Friday, Watertown’s comeback fell short in a 3-2 loss. After a scoreless first period, Nick Snyder and George Poirier scored back-to-back goals four seconds apart to give the Bobcats a 2-0 lead. Snyder added another early in the third period to extend the lead to 3-0. Watertown began the comeback with a Kyle Greene goal at 15:04. Erick Comstock scored on the power play at 13:25, but Marko Bilic held strong in net for Bismarck, stopping 18 of 20 shots to secure the victory. Mason Gudridge took the loss, stopping 33 of 36 shots.
Watertown fell again to Bismarck on Saturday, losing 5-4 in overtime. The two teams combined for five goals in the first period, ending with a 3-2 Bismarck lead. Goals came from Owen Chartier and Brody Josselyn for the Shamrocks, and George Poirier and Theodore Richardson (2) for the Bobcats. Watertown took a 4-3 advantage into the third period following goals from Payton Struck and Chartier. Hugo Kruse later tied the game to send it into overtime. Richardson completed his hat trick at 1:11 of the extra period to give Bismarck the win.
Watertown remains fourth in the NAHL Central Division with a 20-16-1-1 record. The Shamrocks face the third-place Aberdeen Wings in a home-and-away series next Friday and Saturday.
In roster news, the Shamrocks traded forward Vincent Curasi to the Kenai River Brown Bears last week in exchange for future assets. Curasi, 18, appeared in 26 games for Watertown this season after originally signing as a tender. He leaves the organization with seven total points (four goals, three assists).
