WATERTOWN, S.D. – Jackson McClemans recorded a double-double and Watertown shot a blistering 55% from the field to power past Sioux Falls Jefferson 92-73 in boys high school basketball Tuesday night at the Watertown Civic Arena

After a back-and-forth first half that ended in a 38-38 tie, the Arrows came alive in the final two frames. Watertown outscored the Cavaliers 53-35 in the second half to secure the victory.

McClemans tallied 20 points and dished out 10 assists. Carter Busiker led the Arrow scoring with 23 points to go with three steals. Isaac Rehorst turned in an 18-point performance with six assists, while Jack Mack added 13 points, seven assists, and three steals.

Jefferson’s Colby Nuttbrock flirted with a triple-double, finishing with 33 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds. Kauai Mayen added 15 points in the loss.

In the girls’ contest, Brinley Altenburg exploded for 27 points as Sioux Falls Jefferson cruised to a 59-26 win. The Cavaliers took full advantage of a cold shooting night for Watertown, which shot just 17% from the floor.

Jordan Remmers led the Arrows with eight points, followed by Kynsee Russell with five.

Watertown concludes its two-week stretch against Sioux Falls schools Friday when they host Roosevelt in a doubleheader. It will be another significant test for the Arrow boys; after two losses last week, they dropped to the “receiving votes” category of the South Dakota Prep Media Basketball Poll. The Rough Riders currently hold the No. 2 spot.
