Hat Trick from Kasuske Leads Watertown Boys to Dominant 9-1 Win

SIOUX CENTER, Iowa — Watertown used a five-goal second period to fly past the Sioux Center Storm 9-1 in high school boys hockey Friday.

Aidyn Melville opened the scoring for Watertown at 16:33 of the first period. Boston Butler tacked on another to make it 2-0 Lakers at 14:34. Butler added his second of the night at 13:52 of the second period. Colton Kasuske then scored at 11:58 and 9:16 of the second. Colin Solheim extended the lead to 6-0 at 4:33, followed quickly by a Jack Elshere goal at 4:13.

Melville notched a short-handed goal for his second of the night at 8:17 of the third. Kasuske completed his hat trick with an unassisted short-handed goal at 6:14. Sioux Center’s Noam Groeneweg scored the Storm’s lone goal on a power play with 34 seconds remaining. Watertown outshot Sioux Center 31-21.

The Lakers continue their road trip at Sioux Falls West on Saturday.

Flyers Shutout Lakers
Moriah Lincoln held strong in net and the Sioux Falls Flyers outshot Watertown 40-12 to claim an 8-0 win in high school girls hockey action Friday.

Seven different Flyers scored, including Aniston Murray (2), Emma Honner, Halle Watson, Lucy Nelson, Raegan Pfeifer, Ragyn Peska, and Anabel Berdahl.

Watertown wraps up its weekend road series at Sioux Center on Sunday.
