Cyclones Squeak Past Arrows for Region 1A Wrestling Title

DE SMET, S.D. – Clark/Willow Lake edged Watertown by a single point to claim the Girls Region 1A wrestling title Thursday in De Smet. The Cyclones topped the field with 163.5 points, while Watertown followed closely with 162.5.

The Arrows saw four wrestlers reach the top of the podium. Allison Konrad won by fall over Kyra Tostenson of Milbank to take the 190-pound title. Brooke Grajczyk won by fall over Skye Guthmiller of Sioux Valley for the 140 gold. Olivia Anderson won by fall over Tahnie Yellow Hawk of Sully Buttes for first place in the 120-pound division, and Brooklyn Randall won by fall over Emma Bochek of Clark/Willow Lake to claim first at 115. Watertown also had two runners-up: Eden Hach (235) and Nevaeh Shanbeck (170).

Other placing Arrows included Vanessa Anderson in third (105) and Lily Lindsey in fourth (100).

Clark/Willow Lake claimed one individual championship and four runner-up spots. Naomi Miller took home the 135-pound title by fall over Hailey Fortney of West Central. Kadee Frankfurth (105), Hadley Gjerde (110), Emma Bochek (115), and Breanna Ahrens (155) all earned second-place finishes. Other placing Cyclones included Adilynn Ahrens (fourth, 170), Payten Bokinskie (fifth, 140), Chyanne Guerdet (fourth, 130), Zoe Nichols (fifth, 125), and Cadence Bochek (fourth, 120).

The wrestling season concludes next week with the state tournament at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls. SDPB will provide full coverage, including live streams on its website and YouTube channel.
