CLARK, S.D. – In a battle of top-10 ranked boys and girls basketball teams in South Dakota, Hamlin and Clark/Willow Lake split a doubleheader Thursday night.
Addison Neuendorf went 10-for-10 from the free-throw line and tallied 23 points to lead the No. 2 Chargers to a 53-48 win over No. 7 Clark/Willow Lake in the girls’ game. Issie Steffensen added 15 points and Addelyn Jensen had 11 points and eight rebounds for Hamlin.
Shelby Begeman recorded a double-double for the Cyclones with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Kamryn Nesheim and Brynn Roehrich each added eight points.
In the boys’ matchup, No. 3 Clark/Willow Lake overcame an early deficit to defeat No. 4 Hamlin 58-50.
The Chargers jumped out to a 14-4 lead in the first quarter, but the Cyclones narrowed the gap to trail by two at halftime. Hamlin held a 42-38 lead entering the fourth quarter, but Clark/Willow Lake—led by Sully Felberg’s 25 points—held the Chargers to just eight points in the final frame to secure the win.
Felberg also recorded six rebounds, two assists and one steal. Chris Bevers added 13 points and eight rebounds, while Bo Begeman chipped in 10 points.
Two Chargers reached double figures, led by Boden Stevenson with 21 points and Jackson Wadsworth with 19.
Clark/Willow Lake shot 48% from the field compared to 38% for Hamlin.
The Clark/Willow Lake boys (18-2) and girls (17-3) have concluded their regular seasons and await region play. The Hamlin girls (19-1) also finished their regular season, while the Charger boys (16-3) wrap up their schedule at Redfield on Feb. 23.
