PIERRE, S.D. – The SDHSAA has released the brackets for the 2026 region tournaments beginning next week.
With a 16-4 record, Aberdeen Roncalli is the No. 1 seed in Region 1A and has earned a bye. Opening round games on Feb. 24 include No. 4 Sisseton (9-10) facing No. 5 Webster (7-13). The winner will play Roncalli Feb. 26 in the SoDak 16 qualifier. Two other matchups in Region 1A feature No. 2 Groton Area (14-6) facing No. 7 Britton-Hecla (4-16) and No. 3 Milbank (16-4) taking on No. 6 Redfield (5-15). Winners of the Tuesday night games will play Feb. 26 in the SoDak 16 qualifier.
Hamlin earned the No. 1 seed in Region 2A with a 19-1 record and received a bye. The Chargers will face the winner of the Feb. 24 opening round game between No. 4 Florence/Henry (9-11) and No. 5 Great Plains Lutheran (8-12). Two other opening round games feature No. 2 Sioux Valley (18-2) taking on No. 7 Deuel (5-15) and No. 3 Clark/Willow Lake (17-3) facing No. 5 Elkton-Lake Benton (7-13). Winners of the opening round games will play in the SoDak 16 qualifying game Feb. 26.
In Class B, Region 1 features No. 8 Leola/Frederick (7-13) against No. 9 Aberdeen Christian (3-16) and No. 7 Tiospa Zina (5-15) against No. 10 Wilmot (2-18) in opening round contests Feb. 23. Winners move on to face either No. 1 Waubay/Summit (18-2) or No. 2 Northwestern (14-6) in semifinal action Feb. 24. Other semifinal games Feb. 24 feature No. 4 Langford (13-7) against No. 5 Hitchcock/Tulare (11-9) and No. 3 Warner (14-6) against No. 6 Waverly-South Shore (10-10). Winners will play in the SoDak 16 qualifier Feb. 26.
In Region 2B, Arlington earned the No. 1 seed with a 14-6 record, followed by No. 2 Castlewood at 12-8. They await the winners of the Feb. 23 opening round games between No. 8 Estelline/Hendricks (5-15) vs. No. 9 Oldham-Ramona-Rutland (5-14) and No. 7 Iroquois/Lake Preston (7-13) vs. No. 10 James Valley Christian (2-17). Other semifinal action Feb. 24 includes No. 4 Wessington Springs (13-7) taking on No. 5 De Smet (9-11) and No. 3 Deubrook Area (11-9) facing No. 6 Wolsey-Wessington (11-9). Winners will move on to the SoDak 16 qualifier Feb. 26.
