WATERTOWN, S.D. – Nylah Vannelli earned a shutout in net and Emma Schleusner recorded a hat trick to lead the Watertown Lakers to a 3-0 win over Rushmore on Saturday at Prairie Lakes Ice Arena.
Schleusner scored at 12:36 and 2:56 of the second period before completing the hat trick at 10:27 of the third. Sloane Allard, Lily Murray, Gracelyn Webb and Harper Hendricks each recorded assists.
Vannelli stopped all 18 shots on goal as the Lakers outshot the Thunder 36-18.
The Watertown boys were less fortunate in the second half of the doubleheader, falling to Rushmore 12-0.
Rushmore’s goals came from Colton Merchen, Caeyn Howard, Jaxson Reeder, Andrew Welling, Cayden Brozik, Cohen Williams, and two goals each from Jackson Hepper, Brixton Steen and Wyatt Reeder.
The Thunder outshot the Lakers 68-7 in the contest.
Both Watertown teams wrap up their home series against Rushmore on Sunday.
