DELL RAPIDS, S.D. — Watertown crowned five champions and ran away with the Region 1A title Saturday in Dell Rapids. The Arrows took home the top team score of 244. Milbank placed sixth as a team with 75 points.
Taking home top honors for Watertown was Brody Randall, who won by decision over Karson Vessells of West Central at 126 pounds. At 132, Shea Richter won by decision over West Central’s Brody Gossen. Gage Lohr continued his undefeated streak with a technical fall victory over Keanu Lee of O’Gorman at 157. Landen Lewis won by major decision over Jeremiah Wilgers of Tea Area at 175, and at 190, Cade Kuemper won by decision over Blake Kannegieter of Brookings.
The Arrows also had four wrestlers fall in championship matches to take home second place: Braylon Schell (106), Chase Mathews (120), Kutler Swenson (138), and Markus Pitkin (165).
Other placing Arrows included Jonah Anderson, who placed fourth at 113; Max Stroup, who took third at 144; Keslar Swenson, who placed third at 150; Kaleb Kahlil, who placed fifth at 215; and Conner Christianson, who placed fifth at 285.
Watertown now awaits the 2026 SDHSAA Individual Wrestling Tournament, held Thursday through Saturday in Sioux Falls. SDPB will provide full coverage, including mat streams on its website and YouTube channel.
