WATERTOWN, S.D. – The Watertown Shamrocks split a weekend series against the St. Cloud Norsemen, following a dramatic overtime win with a Saturday night loss.
Joe Rice was the hero Friday night, scoring at 3:56 of overtime to lift Watertown to a 3-2 victory in St. Cloud. The Shamrocks held a 2-0 lead midway through the third period on goals by Zach Boren and Jake Pietila. However, the Norsemen forced the extra frame with a power-play goal from Andrew Karkoc and a short-handed tally by Wyatt Farrell.
On Saturday, St. Cloud bounced back to beat Watertown 4-2. The Norsemen received goals from Kellen Matushak, Matej Tard, Gabe Gallivan, and Nolan Smith. Zach Boren provided all the offense for the Shamrocks, netting two power-play goals in the second and third periods.
Watertown (25-17-1-1) remains fourth in the NAHL Central Division. The Shamrocks travel to Bismarck for a two-game set this Friday and Saturday.
