PIERRE, S.D. – Brackets have been set for the boys’ Class A and Class B region matchups.
Region 1A will open March 3 with No. 4 seed Sisseton (11-9) facing No. 5 seed Milbank (11-9). The winner of that contest will face No. 1 seed Groton Area (16-4) in the SoDak 16 qualifier on March 6. The other two opening-round games will feature No. 2 seed Webster Area (12-8) taking on No. 7 seed Redfield (3-17), while No. 3 seed Britton-Hecla (12-8) faces No. 6 seed Aberdeen Roncalli (7-13).
Clark/Willow Lake (18-2) has earned the No. 1 seed in Region 2A. The Cyclones will face the winner of the opening-round contest between No. 4 seed Elkton-Lake Benton (12-8) and No. 5 seed Great Plains Lutheran (7-13). On the other side of the bracket, No. 2 seed Hamlin (17-3) will take on No. 7 seed Florence/Henry (3-16), and No. 3 seed Sioux Valley (14-6) will face No. 6 seed Deuel (7-13) in opening-round action Tuesday night.
In Region 1B, opening-round action will begin Monday night with No. 8 seed Tiospa Zina (4-16) taking on No. 9 seed Waverly-South Shore (3-17) and No. 7 seed Wilmot (8-12) taking on No. 10 seed Langford Area (3-17). Winners move on to Tuesday’s quarterfinal action to face No. 1 seed Aberdeen Christian (17-3) and No. 2 seed Leola/Frederick (15-5). Other Tuesday night games include No. 3 seed Waubay/Summit (14-6) against No. 6 seed Hitchcock-Tulare (8-12), and a rivalry matchup between No. 4 seed Warner (14-6) and No. 5 seed Northwestern (13-7).
De Smet (16-4) and Castlewood (17-3) have earned the top two seeds in Region 2B. They will face the winners of the opening-round contests between No. 8 seed Iroquois/Lake Preston (8-12) versus No. 9 seed Oldham-Ramona-Rutland (5-14), and No. 7 seed James Valley Christian (11-9) against No. 10 seed Arlington (2-18). Other Tuesday action includes No. 3 seed Wessington Springs (16-4) taking on No. 6 seed Wolsey-Wessington (11-9) and No. 4 seed Deubrook Area (14-6) versus No. 5 seed Estelline/Hendricks (15-5).
