WATERTOWN, S.D. — Despite a game-high 22 points from Addie Neuendorf, the Hamlin Chargers saw their championship aspirations cut short in a 57-41 loss to Lennox during the Class A state semifinals.
The Chargers entered the contest with momentum, having beaten the Orioles twice during the regular season. However, Lennox’s defensive adjustments proved to be the difference-maker in the third meeting.
Hamlin started strong, leading 10-6 after the first quarter, but the offense stalled in the second period. The Chargers were held to just seven points before halftime, allowing Lennox to seize a 23-17 lead. The Orioles’ pressure remained relentless throughout the second half, forcing 18 Hamlin turnovers and limiting the Chargers to 30% shooting from the field.
Neuendorf was the lone double-digit scorer for Hamlin. Addelyn Jensen contributed a strong all-around performance with 10 rebounds, five points, and five assists, while Issie Steffensen added seven points in the effort.
Lennox was led by Teagan Sturm with 14 points and Bergan Musser with 12.
The Chargers will look to bounce back and end their season on a high note when they play Sioux Falls Christian for third place on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
