WATERTOWN, S.D. — Watertown Athletic Department has named Havyn Heinz as its new head volleyball coach, pending school board approval, school officials announced Wednesday.

Heinz, a standout performer at both the high school and collegiate levels, joins the Arrows after serving as a graduate assistant coach at Dakota Wesleyan University for the past two seasons.

“We are excited to welcome Havyn to Watertown,” Activities Director Craig Boyens said. “Her championship experience, energy, and passion for developing student-athletes make her a great fit for our program.”

A Huron High School alumna, Heinz was a five-year starter and three-year captain for the Tigers. She holds the school record for career digs and earned Argus Leader Super Six honors as a senior.

Following her high school career, Heinz played for Wayne State College. During her tenure, the Wildcats reached a No. 1 national ranking and a 61–6 record over two seasons. The program captured back-to-back Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championships and earned a trip to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight. Heinz recorded 524 career digs and also competed on the school’s beach volleyball team.

Heinz has deep roots in the community as the granddaughter of former Watertown Activities Director Harvey Hammrich.

“I am so grateful for this opportunity to teach and coach in Watertown,” Heinz said. “Watertown has always had a special spot in my heart, and this is a full circle moment.”

In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Heinz has worked with Kusler Klinics and Nebraska D-League Volleyball.
