Watertown Shamrocks Fall to St. Cloud in Overtime

ST. CLOUD, M.N. — For the second time in less than a week, the St. Cloud Norsemen defeated the Watertown Shamrocks in overtime, securing a 3-2 victory.

Watertown opened the scoring in the second period when Justin Obrochta found the back of the net at the 16:08 mark. St. Cloud’s Christian Garrity tied it up 1-1 on the power play at 13:47. The Norsemen took their first lead of the night at 10:32 of the third period on a goal by Daylin Cline.

With the clock winding down, Jordan Gudridge played the hero for the Shamrocks, netting a power-play goal with just 1:03 remaining in regulation to tie the game 2-2 and force the extra period. However, St. Cloud’s Dante Rodriguez ended the comeback hopes, scoring with 55 seconds left in overtime to clinch the win.

Watertown goaltender Mason Gudridge took the loss despite a busy night, stopping 32 of 35 shots. Izaak Kalis earned the win for St. Cloud, recording 25 saves on 27 attempts.

Watertown (28-19-3-2) remains in fourth place in the NAHL Central Division. The Shamrocks now return home for a pivotal weekend series against the fifth-place North Iowa Bulls.
