MITCHELL, S.D. – Cold shooting proved costly for No. 3 Hamlin as No. 5 Wagner rallied for a 54-48 victory Saturday at the 2026 Hanson Girls Classic in the Corn Palace.
Hamlin jumped to a 22-8 lead after the first quarter but struggled offensively in the second and third. The Chargers managed just 12 points over the second and third quarters, allowing the Red Raiders to come within one point, heading into the final frame.
Hamlin shot just 35% for the game, including a 29% mark in the second half. Wagner capitalized on the slump, outscoring Hamlin 21-14 in the final quarter to secure the win.
Ashlyn Koupal fueled Wagner with a double-double, recording 27 points and 11 rebounds while adding six assists. Peyton Wiechmann contributed 11 points in the win.
Addison Neuendorf led Hamlin with 27 points. Addelyn Jensen chipped in 13 points and fell just short of a double-double with nine rebounds.
Hamlin (8-1) travels to De Smet on Monday. Wagner returns home to host Miller on Jan. 20.
