Richter, Randall Claim Gold as Arrows Take Third in Mitchell

MITCHELL, S.D. — Watertown placed two wrestlers atop the podium and finished third as a team with 230.5 points at the Jerry Opbroek Invitational on Saturday.

Shea Richter (132 pounds) and Brody Randall (126 pounds) earned gold medals for the Arrows. Both won their championship bouts by technical fall, with Richter defeating Mitchell’s Noah Bennett and Randall defeating Wyatt Pickard of Madison.

Three Arrows earned runner-up finishes. Keslar Swenson (150) fell to Jordan Schafer of Pierre, Markus Pitkin (165) lost to Pierre’s Porter Hensley, and Cade Kuemper (190) fell to Nolan Mentele of Howard.

Nine additional Watertown wrestlers placed in the tournament. Landen Lewis (175) and Tanner Urdahl (120) both secured third-place finishes; Lewis won by fall over Breck Evans of Dell Rapids, while Urdahl won by decision over Madison’s Nolan Wire.

Braylon Schell (106) and Max Stroup (144) both placed fourth after narrow losses in their respective third-place matches. Jonah Anderson (113) claimed fifth place with a pin against Jax Jonason of Milbank.

Rounding out the scoring for the Arrows were Brode Lohr (132), Braxten Petersen (138), Owen Petersen (157), and Chase Payne (215), who all placed sixth.

Watertown returns to the mat Jan. 22 for a triangular at Milbank against the Bulldogs and Brookings.
