WATERTOWN, S.D. – The Watertown Shamrocks swept the Minot Minotauros over the weekend, securing two pivotal divisional wins.
Mason Gudridge earned the shutout in net as the Shamrocks outshot the Minotauros 37-22 en route to a 3-0 win Friday night. Watertown goals came from Brody Josselyn in the first period and Kyle Greene in the second. Payton Struck added an empty-net goal in the third to seal the victory.
Watertown again outshot Minot on Saturday, 36-26, to claim a 4-2 victory. Joe Rice opened the scoring for the Shamrocks at 6:16 of the first period. Minot tied the game at 2:49 of the first with a goal by Ivan Sidorov.
Kyle Greene regained the lead for the Shamrocks at 18:03 of the second. After Minot tied the game 2-2 on a Mackley Morelli goal, Zach Boren scored at 3:36 to give the Shamrocks a 3-2 advantage heading into the third period.
Antons Macijevskis scored on the power play at 1:03 of the third period to secure the win.
Watertown (20-25-0-1) sits in fourth place in the NAHL Central Division. The Shamrocks visit Bismarck for a weekend series starting Friday. The Bobcats (25-10-3-1) currently sit second in the division.
