Watertown tennis sweeps Huron Tri with wins over Tigers, Governors

HURON, S.D. — The Watertown Arrows dominated a triangular meet Tuesday, cruising to an 8-1 victory over host Huron before securing a 7-2 win against Pierre.

Watertown’s singles lineup proved untouchable against Huron, sweeping all six matches. Joey Meester, Zane Fligge, Matthew Bertsch, Dawson Hartman, Tyson Lawrence, and Boston Butler each earned victories to anchor the win. The Arrows added two doubles points with wins from the pairings of Fligge-Hartman and Lawrence-Butler.

Against Pierre, the Arrows leaned on their depth in the doubles brackets. Watertown swept all three doubles matches, with the teams of Fligge-Hartman, Meester-Bertsch, and Lawrence-Butler coming out on top. In singles play, Fligge, Hartman, Lawrence, and Butler each recorded their second wins of the day to seal the dual.

Now 3-1 on the season, Watertown returns home April 14 to host Sioux Falls Jefferson and Milbank at Highland Park.
