Hirsch hits two homers as Watertown routes Aberdeen Central on senior night

WATERTOWN, S.D. — Lauryn Hirsch homered twice and drove in five runs to lead Watertown to a 15-0 victory over Aberdeen Central on Thursday.

The performance highlighted a senior night celebration honoring Hirsch, Kodi Lund and Dayna Garvey.

Watertown (1-1) established control early, scoring five runs in the first inning and two in the second before breaking the game open with a six-run third. The Arrows added two more in the fourth to end the game via the run rule.

Hirsch’s home runs came in the second and third innings. She was joined in the multi-hit column by teammates Alexa Brown, Maddie Carter and Lydia Stemwedel as the Arrows finished with 10 hits.

Brown earned the win in the circle, tossing a four-inning complete game. She allowed one hit and struck out 10.

Abbigail Frank recorded the only hit for Aberdeen Central. Sydney Hoog pitched 3 2/3 innings for the Golden Eagles, allowing 15 runs on 10 hits and six walks. Aberdeen Central struggled defensively, committing six errors in the contest.

Watertown returns to action April 21 at Tea Area.
