Clark/Willow Lake girls, Hamlin boys shine at Banana Relays

HAYTI, S.D. — The Clark/Willow Lake girls and the Hamlin boys put on dominant performances Tuesday at the Banana Relays, hosted at the Hamlin Athletic Complex.

The Clark/Willow Lake girls captured the team title with 119 points, fueled by a string of individual victories. Kamryn Nesheim swept the 400-meter (1:01.70) and 800-meter (2:27.35) races, while Jennifer Bevers took first in the 200 (28.03) and the long jump (16 feet, 1.5 inches).

On the boys’ side, the host Chargers finished second overall with 77 points. Hamlin was led by Tate Everson, who secured a double-victory in the throwing events, winning the shot put with a toss of 42-8 and the discus with a mark of 146-2. Rylan Thue added a win in the 100-meter dash (11.77), and Riggs Prouty took the 300-meter hurdles (44.64).

The Clark/Willow Lake boys finished third as a team with 26 points, highlighted by Jakob Steen’s first-place finish in the javelin (150-0).

Top Performers

Hamlin Boys
In addition to Everson and Thue, Chase Stormo took first in the 800 (2:23.05). The Chargers also found success in the relays, winning the 4×200 (1:36.73), the 4×400 (3:47.11), and the 1,600-meter sprint medley (4:19.84).

Hamlin Girls
Amari Ward sprinted to victory in the 100 (13.45), and Jade Thue won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.37 seconds.

Clark/Willow Lake Girls
The Cyclones dominated the field events and hurdles. Emma Bochek won the 300 hurdles (49.39), while Shelby Begeman took top honors in both the high jump (4-10) and triple jump (31-10.5). Eliza Larson added a win in the shot put (34-10.5). The Cyclones also secured wins in the 4×100 (52.83) and 4×800 (10:44.86) relays.
