Arrows Rally Late to Secure Twin Bill Sweep of Bobcats

BROOKINGS, S.D. — The Watertown Arrows flexed their late-game muscles Friday night at Bob Shelden Field, gutting out a doubleheader sweep of the Brookings Bobcats.

Game 1: Watertown 6, Brookings 4
Watertown established an early lead behind a productive third inning. RBI singles from Jonathan Lake and Jackson McClemans fueled a three-run frame, and the Arrows added two more in the fourth to extend their advantage to 6-0.

The Bobcats mounted a comeback, scoring twice in the bottom of the fourth and adding runs in both the sixth and seventh innings. However, Cain Everson took the mound in relief to shut the door and secure the win.

Hunter Halajian earned the victory, striking out six over six innings while allowing three runs on four hits. McClemans and Lake led the offensive charge with two hits apiece. For Brookings, Jase Bauer and Baker Hanson each recorded two hits, while Nolan Krogman took the loss after allowing six runs in five innings.

Game 2: Watertown 8, Brookings 7
The nightcap proved to be a back-and-forth affair as Watertown overcame an early four-run deficit to complete the sweep.

After Watertown scored two in the top of the first, Brookings responded with a six-run explosion in the bottom of the inning to take a 6-2 lead. The Arrows chipped away at the lead, scoring three in the second and adding single runs in the third and fourth. Maxx Sears delivered the decisive blow with an RBI single in the sixth to put Watertown ahead for good.

Sam Olson, Everson, and Sears each collected two hits, with Olson and Everson driving in two runs each. Kooper Heiser earned the win, pitching six innings and striking out four. Markus Pitkin came on to earn the save.

For the Bobcats, hits were hard to come by late as Nolan Krogman, Nolan Wagner, Jase Bauer, and Andrew Heinze each finished with one hit. Jones Huntimer was credited with the loss in relief.
