Cyclones and Chargers post top finishes at O’Gorman track meet

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Top honors belonged to Clark/Willow Lake and Hamlin on Friday in Sioux Falls, where both teams delivered a series of standout results at the O’Gorman Invitational.

The Clark/Willow Lake girls’ squad was powered by Cadence Bochek, who secured two individual titles on the track. Bochek swept the sprints, taking first place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.49 seconds and claiming the 400-meter dash in 59.75 seconds. She later joined Emma Bochek, Johanna Vandersnick, and Jennifer Bevers to win the 4×200-meter relay in 1:49.52.

The Cyclones also saw success in the hurdles and short sprints. Zoe Nichols took the top spot in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 16.73 seconds. Emma Bochek added a second-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 49.65 seconds, while Nevaeh Reitz earned second in the 100-meter dash at 13.19 seconds. On the boys’ side, Chris Bevers took second place in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 24.43 seconds.

Hamlin’s relay teams highlighted the day for the Chargers. The quartet of Gavin Maag, Jonathan Leonardi, Rylan Thue, and Trig Heinrich captured the title in the 4×200-meter relay with a time of 1:35.60. The same group also performed well in the 4×100-meter relay, earning a second-place finish in 46.94 seconds. In the field events, Tate Everson provided a spark for the Chargers by placing fourth in the discus with a throw of 139 feet, 6 inches.
