ABERDEEN, S.D. — The Britton-Hecla boys and Webster Area girls captured team titles Monday at the Eastern Coteau Conference Championship at Lee Park Golf Course.
The Webster girls posted a winning team score of 297, led by individual champion Bailee Ninke. Ninke carded an 84 to secure the ECC title and finished in a three-way tie for third place at the concurrent Pre-Region 1B Meet. Waverly-South Shore took second in the conference standings with a 319, followed by Britton-Hecla at 331. Great Plains Lutheran finished fourth with a 343, and Waubay-Summit placed fifth with a 356.
In the individual girls’ standings, Sage Gaikowski of Waubay-Summit earned runner-up honors with an 88. Mia Coester of Webster placed third with a 94, followed by Addison Watkins of Great Plains Lutheran with a 95 and Andrea Koustrup of Waverly-South Shore with a 102. At the Pre-Region level, Brynn Roehrich of Clark-Willow Lake led all golfers with a 77, while Olivia Knox of Doland took second with a 79.
On the boys’ side, Britton-Hecla narrowly defeated Webster for the ECC team championship, finishing with a 254 to Webster’s 255. Great Plains Lutheran took third at 264, followed by Florence-Henry at 293, Waubay-Summit at 330, and Wilmot at 354.
Seth Lesnar claimed the ECC individual boys’ title with a 74, a score that also paced the field at the Pre-Region 1B Meet. Britton-Hecla’s Lofton Heer finished second in the conference and tied for fourth in the Pre-Region with a 78. Rounding out the ECC top five were Jace Rein of Britton-Hecla with an 82, Barrett Pommer of Great Plains Lutheran with an 85, and Austin Keller of Florence-Henry with an 86. In the Pre-Region standings, Trent Beyers of Edmunds Central and Cade Gaikowski of Clark-Willow Lake tied for second with 77s, while Harrison Beyers of Edmunds Central tied for fourth with a 78.
