Clark/Willow Lake Girls, Deuel Boys Lead Strong Lake Central Conference Track and Field Showings

FLANDREAU, S.D. — The Clark/Willow Lake girls dominated the field while the Deuel boys used a string of relay victories to secure a runner-up finish at the Lake Central Conference meet Tuesday at the Barnes-Evans Track in Flandreau.

Clark/Willow Lake surged to a first-place finish on the girls’ side with a commanding 206 points. The Cyclones were powered by a dual-victory performance from Zoe Nichols, who swept the hurdles, winning the 100-meter hurdles in 15.91 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles in 50.27.

The Cyclones also saw individual titles from Nevaeh Reitz in the 100-meter dash (12.84), Cadence Bochek in the 400-meter (59.16), and Kameryn Nesheim in the 800-meter (2:23.74). Clark/Willow Lake proved equally formidable in the field and relays, taking gold in the shot put via Eliza Larson (36-0.75) and winning the 4×100, 4×200, and 1,600-meter sprint medley relays.

In the boys’ division, Deuel finished second overall with 135 points. Oliver Fieber claimed the title of the conference’s fastest man, winning the 100-meter dash in a blistering 10.51 seconds. Teammate Tyson Hagberg provided the distance spark, sweeping the 1,600-meter (4:45.47) and 3,200-meter (10:24.85) runs.

Deuel’s relay captured first place in the 4×100 (45.12), 4×200 (1:30.46), and 4×800 (8:44.49). The Deuel girls finished fourth with 94.33 points, led by Addison Timmons’ victory in the 200-meter (27.00) and Shyla Tvedt’s win in the 3,200-meter (13:18.60).

Hamlin’s Tate Everson emerged as a force in the throwing events, securing a double-win in the discus (133-5) and the javelin (154-10). The Charger boys finished fifth with 83 points, while the girls took sixth.

Castlewood’s Brody Bass earned a conference title in the 110-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 15.18 seconds. The Warriors also saw a standout distance performance from Nolan Eidson, who took second in both the 1,600 and 3,200-meter races behind Deuel’s Hagberg.
