Great Plains Lutheran Sweeps Team Titles at Eastern Coteau Conference Meet

WATERTOWN, S.D. — Great Plains Lutheran swept the team titles at the Eastern Coteau Conference Meet on Wednesday, as both the boys and girls squads secured first-place finishes at Hugh Schilling Field. The Panther boys finished with 144 points, while the girls posted a score of 168.

Great Plains Lutheran’s Milo Schumacher led the boys on the track, winning the 300-meter hurdles in 43.24 seconds and taking second in the 110-meter hurdles at 16.13. The boys also claimed gold in the 4×100 relay with a time of 46.21 and the 4×800 relay in 9:16.14, while adding a second-place finish in the 1600-meter sprint medley relay at 4:20.53. Sam Manian took second in the 100-meter dash in 11.71, and Carter Hinners earned second in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:09.24. In the field, Lucas Johnson cleared 6-2 to win the high jump, while Aiden Cameron took second in the shot put with a toss of 41-4.

The GPL girls were led by Abigail Kjenstad, who won the long jump at 17-0 and earned runner-up finishes in both the high jump at 5-0 and the triple jump at 32-7.5. Chloe Berg led a 1-2 Panther finish in the 3200-meter run in 15:40.17, followed by Ada Maddox in 16:04.97. Katherine Prahl won the 300-meter hurdles in 54.03 and took second in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.39. In the throwing events, Maggie Storm won the discus with a mark of 95-6, while Julia Prahl took second in both the shot put at 30-9.5 and the discus at 89-2. The girls 4×800 relay team also took the top spot with a time of 12:36.42.

Florence/Henry finished in fourth place in both divisions, with the boys scoring 60 and the girls 66. The Falcons saw standout individual performances, particularly from Dawson Hlavacek and Addison Byer. Hlavacek swept the boys’ horizontal jumps, winning the long jump at 19-9 and the triple jump at 38-1. On the track, Tucker Keller won the 110-meter hurdles in 16.13 and placed second in the 300-meter hurdles at 44.25, while Adrian Flisrand won the 3200-meter run in 11:59.16. For the girls, Addison Byer won the 100-meter dash in 13.20 and took second in the 400-meter dash. Keturah Schleusner won the 200-meter dash in 27.43, and Sierra Keller took first in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.81. Jorja Nelsen added a second-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles. The Falcon girls won the 1600-meter sprint medley relay in 4:39.15 and placed second in the 4×100 relay.

Waubay/Summit was powered by Blake Gaikowski, who dominated the throwing events with wins in the shot put at 36-7.5 and the discus at 120-10. Teegan Gaikowski added a second-place finish in the triple jump at 38-1, and the boys 4×800 relay team took second in 9:22.17. For the girls, Carsyn Grebner took second in the 3200-meter run in 12:42.71, while the 4×200 and 4×400 relay teams both earned runner-up finishes.

Waverly-South Shore was highlighted by Annie Stricherz, who secured a conference title in the girls’ shot put with a mark of 33-5. On the boys’ side, Kyle Kneeland earned a second-place finish in the discus with a throw of 107-9.
