Watertown Softball drops finale to Jefferson

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Sioux Falls Jefferson took advantage of 12 Watertown errors and collected nine hits to defeat the Arrows 12-2 on Friday.

Macy Bryant led the Cavaliers’ offense, going 2-for-4 at the plate. Bella Sorum and Lauryn Bullis each contributed a hit and two RBIs. In the circle, Tya Devericks earned the win, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out six over four innings.

Alexa Brown and Emmy Berglund picked up the only two hits of the day for Watertown, with Berglund driving in both of the Arrows’ runs. Brown pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing 12 runs on nine hits and striking out four.

Watertown coach Kelli Brinka found positives in her team’s performance against a tough opponent.

“We did some really great things tonight,” Brinka said. “From making big plays, keeping them off balance at the plate and stringing a couple of hits together to bring in some runs. Jefferson is really good. I’m so proud of our girls for showing up tonight and competing.”

Watertown wraps up the regular season with a 3-14 record. The Arrows earned the No. 15 seed in the SoDak 16 tournament and will face No. 2 Harrisburg on Tuesday.
