Hansen’s four RBIs power Watertown past Bryant in Creighton Tournament opener

GRETNA, Neb. — Cole Hansen drove in four runs on three hits to lead Watertown Post 17 past Bryant, Arkansas, 12-6 on the opening day of the Creighton Prep Tournament.

Carter Busker added three hits and an RBI for Watertown, which collected 10 total hits in the victory. Cain Everson, Sam Olson, Jackson McClemans, and Jaxon Falax all contributed to the offensive effort.

Kooper Heiser started on the mound for Watertown, pitching 4 1/3 innings while allowing six runs on eight hits. Tripp Jorgenson threw 2 2/3 innings of one-hit relief to earn the save.

The Black Sox finished with nine hits, led by Jaxon Riggs, who went 2-for-4 at the plate. Lynden Johnson and Jake Elliot each drove in a run for Bryant.

Bryant utilized five pitchers in the matchup. Jeremiah Motes took the loss, allowing five runs on one hit and four walks in one inning of work.

Watertown (25-15, 10-7) continues tournament play today with a pair of games, facing Lincoln East at noon then taking on host Gretna at 2:30 p.m.
