Roehrich, Olson secure top-10 finishes at SDGA Junior Championship

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Two Watertown golfers secured top-10 finishes this week at the South Dakota Golf Association Boys and Girls Junior 16-18 Championships, navigating the three-day tournament at the Golf Club at Red Rock.

In the girls division, Brynn Roehrich of Watertown claimed fifth place after carding a three-day total of 15-over-par 231. Roehrich opened the tournament with strong early rounds, shooting a 75 on day one and a 1-over-par 73 on day two before closing out the competition with an 83 on Wednesday.

Fellow Watertown competitor Gabi Olson also earned a spot in the top 10, placing ninth overall. Olson bounced back from consecutive rounds of 83 on the first two days to shoot a tournament-best 80 on the final day for a 246 total.

The individual girls title went to Olivia Braun of Aberdeen, who finished at 5-over-par 221 after a stellar 2-under-par 70 on the final day of play.

On the boys side, Asher Dannenbring of Mitchell captured the championship in a dramatic three-person, 10th-hole sudden-victory playoff after tying Sioux Falls’ Carter Peterson and Vermillion’s Rylan Moran with a three-day total of 3-over-par 219.
