LAKE NORDEN, S.D. — Nate Wicks pitched seven dominant innings, allowing just two hits and striking out eight, to lead the Lake Norden Lakers to a 5-1 amateur baseball victory over the Clark Traders on Friday night.
Jordon Johnson pitched two scoreless innings in relief to seal the win for the Lakers (5-3).
Lake Norden’s offense relied on a balanced attack, with Kale Stevenson, Hunter Janzen, Mick Tulson, and Ted Smith each collecting two hits. Stevenson, Teague Stevenson, Smith, and Wicks each drove in a run.
Jack Heesch and Zach Toben provided the only hits for the Traders (3-4). Hudson Fuller took the loss despite a complete-game effort, allowing five runs on nine hits while striking out nine and walking four over eight innings.
Both teams return to action Sunday, with Lake Norden traveling to Elkton and Clark playing host to Milbank.
