Grantham’s Late Clutch Hit Lifts Clark/Willow Lake Past Redfield

REDFIELD, S.D. — Watson Grantham hit a two-RBI single in the top of the sixth inning to lift Clark/Willow Lake to a 7-5 victory over Redfield on Monday night in South Dakota American Legion baseball action.

Clark/Willow Lake jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning, but Redfield responded with a five-run third inning to take the lead. After a walk tied the game at 5-5 in the fifth, Grantham’s clutch hit in the sixth secured the win for Clark/Willow Lake.

Grantham led the offensive effort, finishing the night with two hits and an RBI. Konrad Frankfurth, Bennett Pommer, Charlie Luvass, Cade Gaikowski, and Caleb Drenth each added a hit.

Grantham also earned the victory on the mound. He pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out nine. Drenth started the game, surrendering three hits and three runs over 2 1/3 innings.

Tate Bray paced Redfield at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Jet Kleinsasser contributed two hits. Chase Odland took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits.

Clark/Willow Lake (10-2) will face Salem on Thursday.
