Roehrich, Schafer Capture Top Spots at SDGA Junior Tour Stop at Prairie Winds

WATERTOWN, S.D. — Local youth golfers put on a strong showing Monday as the South Dakota Golf Association Junior Tour made its stop at Prairie Winds Golf Course.

Highlighting the day for the hometown field was Faith Roehrich, who dominated the 14-15 Girls Division. Roehrich captured first place by firing an impressive 4-over-par 76. Also in the division, Watertown’s Macie Stein secured a sixth-place finish with a 110.

In the 12-13 Girls Division, Watertown’s Lydia Schafer claimed the top spot on the leaderboard, carding a 51 to earn first place. Paisley Neale, also of Watertown, followed closely to finish third with a 55.

Watertown players also found themselves near the top of several boys leaderboards. In the 14-15 Boys Division, Greyson Zebroski finished just four strokes off the lead, carding an 84 to take second place behind Howard’s Max Shumaker (80). Watertown’s Riley Randall placed fifth with an 87, and Jackson Ahmann took sixth with an 89.

In the 16-18 Boys Division, Brecken Jungen represented Watertown with a seventh-place finish, carding a 92. Vermillion’s Jack Johnson won the division with a 78.

Other notable Watertown results from Monday’s tournament include:

12-13 Boys (18 Holes): Madden Stein led the local contingent in seventh place with a 90. Brody Sternhagen (97), Brody Palmquist (98), and Sam VanLaecken (106) also completed the round.

9 & Under Boys: Ethan Stein paced the local field with a fourth-place finish, shooting a 44. Camdyn Phillips and Andrew Stein both carded a 51, followed by Winston Ksenych (55) and Carson Wahl (58).

9 & Under Girls: Kollins Neale secured a runner-up finish, placing second with a score of 57.
