Lake Norden explodes for 10 runs in 8th, beats Ramona

RAMONA, S.D. — Kale Stevenson hit home runs in the first and eighth innings to lift the Lake Norden Lakers to a 13-4 victory over the Ramona Express on Wednesday night in South Dakota amateur baseball action.

Trailing 4-3 entering the eighth, the Lakers overwhelmed the Express with a 10-run barrage. Cody Trumm triggered the rally with an RBI double before Hunter Janzen launched a two-run home run. Teague Stevenson and Turner Stevenson followed with consecutive RBI singles.

Kale Stevenson then capped his big night with a two-run shot, his second homer of the game. Trumm provided the final blow of the frame, blasting a three-run home run in his second at-bat of the inning. Lake Norden finished the game with 15 hits.

Janzen started on the mound for the Lakers, allowing three runs on five hits over four innings. Blake Jensen worked four innings of one-run relief to help seal the win.

Brady Miller paced Ramona at the plate, finishing a perfect 4-for-4. Boyd Pooler drove in two runs, while Brennon Bickett and Logan DeRungs each collected two hits. Express starter Kadyn Gehrels took the loss, giving up six runs on nine hits while striking out six.

Lake Norden (7-3) hosts the Milbank Firechiefs on Friday.
