CLARK, S.D. — Gus Steiger drove in four runs and the Castlewood Ravens racked up 18 hits to cruise past the Clark Traders 12-2 in South Dakota amateur baseball action Wednesday night.
Steiger led the offensive onslaught, going 4-for-6 at the plate. He launched a two-run home run in the fifth inning and added a three-run double in the eighth to break the game wide open.
Booker Schooley also delivered a major blow for the Ravens, smashing a fifth-inning grand slam to finish the night 1-for-3. Schooley was equally dominant on the mound, pitching all eight innings to earn the victory. He allowed just two runs on six hits while striking out five on 110 pitches.
Castlewood’s lineup produced up and down the order, with Alex Gauer, Tucker Wookey, Nate Phinney, Adam Ching, and Carson Kirwan all recording multi-hit performances.
Brent Griffith paced the Traders, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Zach Winter, David Severson, Bryce DesLauriers, and Braedon Zaug also collected hits for Clark.
Hudson Fuller took the loss for the Traders, surrendering five runs on 11 hits while striking out four. Zach Toben pitched three innings of relief, allowing five runs on seven hits and striking out three.
Castlewood (8-2) travels to face the Milbank Firechiefs on Sunday. Clark (4-5) will look to bounce back Sunday when it hosts the Volga Cormorants.
