ARLINGTON, S.D. — Area youth golfers put together strong performances Monday as the South Dakota Golf Association Junior Tour made a stop at Lake Region Golf Course in Arlington.
In the girls’ 12-13 division, Lydia Schafer of Watertown captured the top spot, carding a 47 to take home the gold medal. Fellow Watertown golfer Paisley Neale placed third in the division with a 48, while Riley Jacobson of Bryant finished fourth with a 58.
Watertown’s Brody Sternhagen also earned a division victory, securing first place in the boys’ 12-13 nine-hole division with a score of 46.
In the boys’ 16-18 division, Larz Tvedt of Wolsey claimed the title by shooting an even-par 72. On the girls’ side, Josie Bormann of Sioux Falls took home the gold after carding an 86.
Braxton Yackley of Selby topped the boys’ 14-15 division with a score of 79. Local competitors Greyson Zebroski of Watertown finished fourth with an 84, and Jackson Ahmann of Watertown placed sixth with an 86.
In the girls’ 14-15 division, Tafney Lunn of Brookings won gold with an 83. Reese Jacobseon of Bryant took third place with a 98, and Kinsley Ronne of Goodwin finished fifth with a 103.
Braylen Liebel of Aberdeen shot an 83 to win the boys’ 12-13 18-hole division. Watertown was well-represented in the group, with Madden Stein finishing fourth (97), Brody Palmquist placing sixth (108), and Sam VanLaecken taking seventh (110).
In the boys’ 10-11 division, Arlington’s Tayven Huntimer won gold on his home course with a 36. Rudy Stuzman of Watertown finished just behind in second place with a 40, and Luke VanLaecken of Watertown placed 10th with a 70. Cecilla Bormann of Sioux Falls won the girls’ 10-11 division with a 44.
Mason Vosika of Warner won the boys’ 9 and under division with a 41, while Camdyn Phillips of Watertown finished third with a 50. In the girls’ 9 and under division, Emmery James of Rapid City placed first with a 58, followed by Kollins Neale of Watertown in second with a 60 and Cynthia Graeb of Willow Lake in third with a 65.
