COLTON, S.D. — A four-run sixth inning paired with six defensive miscues by Lake Norden/Badger cleared the way for Colton to secure a 9-7 victory Monday night in South Dakota American Legion baseball action.
Colton captured the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth. Alex Wingen sparked the decisive rally with an RBI double, followed by an RBI walk from Treyson Richter and a sacrifice fly by Braxton Allen. A costly Lake Norden/Badger error brought home the fourth run of the frame to cap the comeback.
Brody Dyvig, Allen, Ty Oyen, Richter, and Wingen each collected a hit to pace the Colton offense.
Denton Bicknase started on the mound for Colton, striking out five and giving up just one hit and one run over two innings of work. Jackson Williams earned the victory in relief, allowing one run and walking four to seal the win.
Teague Stevenson took the loss for Lake Norden/Badger. Stevenson surrendered eight runs on five hits, striking out seven and walking five over 5 1/3 innings. Offensively, Evan Schultz led LNB at the plate, going 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Lake Norden/Badger (4-10) will look to bounce back on Thursday when they visit Volga.
