LAKE NORDEN, S.D. — A ferocious nine-run sixth inning propelled Volga Post 114 past Lake Norden/Badger Post 260 on Thursday night, securing an 18-6 victory.
Regan Schwartz spearheaded the Volga attack, finishing the night 3-for-5 at the plate with an RBI. Volga’s aggressive baserunning kept constant pressure on the defense, as Braden Danzeisen, Isaac Skovlund, and Tate Steffensen each swiped multiple bases. In total, Post 114 racked up 11 stolen bases in the contest.
Volga also capitalized heavily on defensive miscues, taking advantage of eight Lake Norden/Badger errors.
Broaden Teske earned the win on the mound, pitching five innings and allowing three runs on seven hits in his starting role.
Evan Schultz and Turner Stevenson each collected two hits to lead the offense for Lake Norden/Badger. Angel Rocha, Jose Mahe, and Stevenson each drove in a run. Stevenson also started on the mound for Post 260, giving up five runs on two hits over four innings of work.
With the loss, Lake Norden/Badger drops to 4-11 on the season. Volga improves to 11-10.
