CLARK, S.D. — A pair of explosive late innings propelled the Milbank Firechiefs to a 12-2, run-rule victory over the Clark Traders in South Dakota amateur baseball action on Saturday.
The Firechiefs broke the game open by bringing five runs across the plate in the fifth inning, followed by a four-run surge in the seventh to trigger the 10-run rule.
Milbank’s 12-hit offensive attack was spearheaded by Kaden Krause, who turned in a dominant 4-for-5 performance at the plate. Krause drove in six runs, capping his big day with a two-run home run in the top of the seventh. Merik Junker also contributed to the offense, going 2-for-4.
Isaac Schulte earned the victory on the mound for the Firechiefs. Schulte pitched a complete seven innings, scattering six hits and allowing two runs while striking out three and walking four.
Andrew Magedanz provided the primary offensive spark for the Traders, driving in both of Clark’s runs. Hudson Fuller and Conner Mudgett each collected two hits in the loss.
Fuller was tagged with the loss for Clark, surrendering eight runs on 10 hits over six innings of work. He struck out five and walked four.
Up next, Clark will head to Castlewood for the District 1 tournament, which runs from July 25 through July 30.
