PIERRE, S.D. — Junior golfers from Watertown put on impressive individual performances this week as the South Dakota Golf Association Junior Tour made stops in Pierre, Brookings, and Sioux Falls.
The action kicked off Tuesday at Hillsview Golf Course in Pierre, where local competitors made their mark in several divisions.
In the 12-13 Boys 18-hole division, Madden Stein fired an 88 to place sixth. In the 9 & Under Boys division, Ethan Stein led the local contingent with a third-place finish after shooting a 40, while Andrew Stein carded a 53 to secure seventh place.
The tour moved to Edgebrook Golf Course in Brookings on Wednesday, bringing a strong showing across multiple age groups for Watertown players.
In the 14-15 Boys division, Jackson Ahmann led the way with a fifth-place finish after carding a 78, while Greyson Zebroski took 12th with an 88.
The 12-13 Boys 18-hole division saw Sam VanLaecken lead Watertown’s group, finishing ninth with a 90. Brody Palmquist took 11th with a 98, followed by Hudson Dunsmoor (102) and Brody Sternhagen (108).
Watertown girls shined in the 12-13 Girls division, placing two competitors in the top three. Lydia Schafter captured second place with a round of 45, while Paisley Neale took third right behind her with a 49.
In the 10-11 Boys division, Rudy Stutzman finished ninth with a 49, and Luke VanLaecken wrapped up his round with a 66.
The week concluded Thursday at Bakker Crossing Golf Club in Sioux Falls, where Sam VanLaecken returned to the course in the 12-13 Boys 18-hole division, shooting a 101.
